Our project isn’t just about food, far from it in fact. It’s much more about having fun, meeting new friends and making all of our university experiences as exciting as possible.... And if we can become healthier and reduce our carbon footprints along the way then surely that is not a bad thing.
Apparently we are what we eat.... and we have the choice to eat what we want.... so why don’t we all choose to be healthy, fresh, unpolluted and wholesome??? In a changing climate and as fossil fuels are ever depleting choosing low carbon diets and thinking about where our food comes from has never been more important.
To help you make these choices we have a whole hamper full of exciting foodie workshops, tastings and events brewing throughout the year. Find low carbon tips, tasty recipes and links to where the yummy food shops are around Aberdeen or sign up to our weekly veg bag and enjoy the ease of getting fresh, nutritious, cheap and organic fruit and veg delivered from a local farm without even having to leave the campus. You can even to do your bit now without leaving your seat by signing up to a great carbon busting campaign to be a part-time carnivore and pledging to reduce the carbon heavy aspect of your diet, the meat and dairy. We are hoping to make this even more easier to get involved by running meat free days across campus.
Whether you are an avid gardener, just want to give it a try or help out now and again when you have time then we can fulfil your fingers needs, however green they are. Whether it is having your own plot in the student veg garden or helping to transform run down areas of the university into fruitful orchards and fragrant herb gardens there is something for everyone... and we even need help planning our extremely important parties and food festivals.
Even a tiny seed can grow into a juicy tomato or a ripe pear so don’t worry if you feel that you don’t have much free time, if you are interested in any shape or form then we would love to hear from you.
