News and Events

Hard Rain: On March 22nd the CCP team have secured a major coup by welcoming the acclaimed “Hard Rain” exhibition to the University.  As well as a static photographic exhibition that will be on site until April, the photographer and campaigner Mark Edwards will be in the Regent Lecture Theatre at 6pm on Tuesday 22 March 2011 to present his powerful and provocative performance/presentation of Hard Rain.  Combining images from around the globe with Bob Dylan’s lyrics and Edwards’ own observations on over-consumption, pollution, war and societal change, this exhibition has been seen by over 15 million people and has been welcomed by the UN, the Scottish Government, NGOs and Universities.

This is a must-see event and promises to be one of the most talked about on campus this year.  It comes highly recommended so do please put this in your diary and support the CCP team.  Full details here.  No need to book but get there early.

Green Impact Students’ Unions – Silver Award: The AUSA CCP is delighted to announce that the AUSA has satisfied the criteria for the award of Silver in the scheme monitoring the Green Impact Students' Unions in 2010/11.  The University was previously unrecognised in this scheme so this is a great development, bypassing the Bronze award that had been hoped for.

Young Green List: And finally, at last night’s Young Scottish Green List awards the University of Aberdeen had two students in the final 15 of this national recognition scheme for young campaigners and committed sustainability activists.  The AUSA CCP team’s very own Caspar Lampkin was in the Top 5 and Robert Clews, a Second Year Law student, was also recognised for his role with the UKYCC (UK Youth Climate Coalition),
