Sustainability Project - Communications and IT Internship
Start date 9th December 2013 – End date 30th May 2014
£8.25 per hour - 7 hours/ week
AUSA was recently awarded £137,000 from the Scottish Government to develop two sustainability projects for students at Aberdeen. The first is Power Shift, a people powered Halls energy challenge. Power Shift is an events and activities programme through which we plan to reduce energy consumption in Halls by 7%. The Carbon School is a training and mentoring programme for students. With the support of the local Energy Saving Trust we train students to become energy auditors. Once trained our ‘Carbon Agents’ visit local charities to provide tailored energy advice to help reduce their fuel bills.
We are now looking for an enthusiastic individual with a professional approach, to develop our online communications and provide IT support to the team. The post-holder will need good command of Excel and will utilise Mailchimp and Survey Monkey to engage students. This will be a varied role which will include ensuring that the projects are well publicised via our monthly newsletter, social media and the web. The Intern will support the team with administration including preparing spread sheets and letters. The post-holder will help to organise events and attend a number of our events to promote energy saving behaviour.
You will be based in a busy office with the Carbon School and Power Shift team, located at the Butchart Centre. A full induction will be provided and there will be opportunities for training. We will negotiate flexible working hours to complement your studies and exam periods. The post includes a two week placement at the University Environment Office to further develop your skills and experience.
