Welcome to the RAG page! Raising and Giving (RAG) is the major student fundraising group at the University of Aberdeen, and is one of the country’s longest-running fundraising campaigns of its kind. Every year hundreds of students work tirelessly to organise events and collections to raise tens of thousands of pounds for local charities across Aberdeen and the North-East of Scotland. Through our Adopt a Charity project we also team up with students, societies and sports clubs who wish to run a charity event or get involved with fundraising.
In 2013/14 we raised over £90,000 for over 37 different local charities!
Events in the RAG calendar include the annual Student Show at His Majesty’s Theatre (the most successful charity musical in the country), the Torcher Parade (the largest student torch-light parade in Europe), and RAG Week (a whole week in November dedicated to fundraising)!
Bookends, your second-hand charity bookshop on campus, also donates 30% of every item sold to the RAG campaign.
How do I get involved?
It’s really easy to get involved with RAG! You can help out at a one-off event, join us when we head out bucketing, or become a member of our committee and run the events yourself. Want some more information on what we do day-to-day? Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or follow us on twitter @AUSACharities. We LOVE a hashtag.
You can also find us on Facebook here.
What’s in it for me?
You can be part of a growing student campaign that makes a huge difference to the local community here in Aberdeen. Whether you are a first-year or a postgraduate student, RAG is a nationally-recognised activity and gives you the chance to gain new skills, meet new people, and help raise loads of money for charities in the North-East of Scotland. When you volunteer with RAG you also have the opportunity to work towards a Saltire Award for all the hours that you’ve helped out.
