Equal Opportunities

One of the guiding principles of AUSA is equality.

With over 14,000 students at the University of Aberdeen it is important that everyone is aware and tolerant of each other.

We have an Equal Opportunities committee to ensure that all AUSA services and provisions are fully inclusive. The committee is also tasked with the liberation of certain under represent groups in the education sector.

The committee ensures that we and the university and making equality a priority and also help to raise awareness of the great spectrum of cultures, beliefs and backgrounds that make up our university.

Jenny Batty is your President for Welfare and Equal Opportunities and it is her job to convene the committee and represent all students at a university level. She works full time and can be contacted on pres.welfare@abdn.ac.uk with any questions and queries you have.

VP Equal Opportunities, Vita, is charged with focusing solely on equality campaigns and policy from within AUSA. She works part time and can be contacted on vp.equalopps@abdn.ac.uk.

We also have specific officers for liberation and representation on the committee representing specific under represented groups. These officers represent: women, faith, race and ethnicity, LGBT, disability, mature students and international students.
