Gala Saturday – 21st April 2012
Gala Saturday is a festival carnival event in the city centre of Aberdeen. The gala signifies the end of the first week of the historical Charities Fortnight, acts as a last social event in the run up to the Torcher Parade the following Saturday. This year the festival will be held between 10am – 4pm on Saturday the 21st April 2012. The main section of the gala will be located St Nicholas Street and will involve University, societies/clubs and local groups.
The Gala allows the students of Aberdeen to link with the local community to help celebrate Charities Fortnight, which is our biggest fundraising period of the year. This historical gala features street performances, arts and crafts, cultural stall and a general carnival atmosphere around the city centre of Aberdeen.
The event normally attracts loads of people and collects lots of money for our local charities. Last year's event raised over £750.
