Schools Collection

Schools Collection

What Are Schools Collections?
In simple terms, a schools collection is fundraising for our local charities by descending on local primary schools to collect money whilst dressed in fancy dress. It may sound like a scary and juvenile think to do but is actually one of the most rewarding things that the Charities Campaign does. I don’t want to sound like an aid appeal here but the schools collections are a well established event in which the children of the of the schools we attend get a lot out of the event.

When Are Schools Collections?
The schools collections happen every Wednesday afternoon between October until May. A group of volunteers leave the hub every Wednesday at 1pm and head to the allocated schools.

Last Year
Although the schools collections mainly collect 2ps, they are very successful and play an important role in our fundraising. It allows us to promote the campaign and charities fundraising in general to the schools we visit whilst supporting the local charities we disburse to. Last year we raised just over £1,500 from several schools collections and this year we are looking at raising more with more schools signed up for this year.

Getting Involved
If you are interested in learning more or want to join us on one of our schools collections please email the committee at charities@abdn.ac.uk and maybe we will see you there.
