In partnership with Aberdeen City Council and Sports Scotland, the University of Aberdeen has a great new facility - the Aberdeen Sports Village. Phase one is complete, this includes a water based hockey pitch, an indoor full size football pitch, 4 squash courts and an indoor athletics 100m running track.
Across the road from Butchart is King's Pavilion which houses our swimming pool and a performance gym dedicated entirely to free weights. The attractive King's playing fields that are overlooked by the Pavilion are the scene of much student activity. The area boasts 2 full-size grass rugby pitches, a lacrosse pitch, artificial cricket wicket, a single tennis court and three additional tennis courts that double as a floodlit training area during the winter.
Situated around a mile from King's Campus and adjacent to the Hillhead Halls of Residence, the Hillhead Centre plays host to both an exclusive grass match pitch and a full size sand dressed synthetic pitch along with treatment rooms and an impressive sports pavilion with seating for over 200 spectators.
Situated two miles from the King's Campus on the Bridge of Don, the Balgownie plaing fields play host to football, shinty and Gaelic football. The site incorporates 9 high quality grass pitches, extensive changing facilities and a pavilion that can also be booked for specific events.
Due for completion is 2014 is a new Olympic standard 50m swimming pool and seperate diving pool with a floating floor that will put Aberdeen amongst the top universities for world-class sporting facilities.
