Sports Union Trophies The following trophies are presented at the annual Sports Union Blues Ball and nominations should be submitted to the Blues Secretary. The Blues Committee will decide the winners and they will not be announced until the ball itself. Blues Bowl The late George Watson, in memory of his son Duncan, presented this bowl to the Athletic Association, now the Sports Union. George was a former Honorary President of the Athletic Association. The Blues Bowl is awarded to the best student who has made an outstanding contribution to their sport in their first year at university. Centenary Cup The Centenary Cup is awarded to the team or individual that excels in a single event during the previous sporting season. Sandy Morrison Memorial Trophy This award is dedicated to Sandy Morrison, a groundsman at the University for many years, and is awarded to an individual who has shown outstanding achievement at their chosen sport during the previous season. Allender Memorial Trophy The Allender Memorial Trophy was commissioned in 1963 in the memory of the then Assistant Director of Physical Education, Gerry Allender, who tragically died in a car accident. It is awarded to the most deserving club at the discretion of the Blues committee. The Committee considers competitive performances but also fund-raising, social events, training, tours and support for new members. Kukri – For the Team Award This is a new award this year and will be awarded to a club or team at the discretion of the Blues Committee AJM Edwards Memorial Award This award is one of the most prestigious trophies that the Sports Union awards to an individual. It is awarded for lengthy outstanding service to a club and to Sport at Aberdeen.
