What Is Student Show?
Student Show forms a major part in contributing to the amount of money disbursed by Aberdeen Student Charities Campaign. It is a prime example of how the Charities Campaign aims to raise money for local and national charities whilst having fun along the way. Over the years, Student Show has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities, last year contributing over £38,000 to the final total, compared with £32,000 from the previous year.
It is an original musical comedy extravaganza, and is written, produced and performed by students. It is the only show of its kind in the UK, and the only amateur theatre show to consistently fill His Majesty's Theatre (that's an audience of over 6,500!)
Getting Involved
As you may be aware, we are looking for budding new talent (as well as old talent of course!) to act, sing and dance in the show. As long as you are a student from any of Aberdeen's further educational establishments you are more than welcome to join us!
Student Show is a long-standing tradition in Aberdeen, the first taking place in 1921 and this year will see our 90th annual production!
The Show is written by the Script Team during Semester One of the academic year, and by February or so the Auditions take place, followed by 4 weeks of intense rehearsals (the whole show is rehearsed from scratch in before the curtain goes up on the week of the Show itself.
