Societies, Sports Clubs and Student Groups

With over 55 different sports clubs, over 180 societies and various student groups, AUSA and the University of Aberdeen have a vibrant community spirit.

Whether you’re looking to learn salsa, learn to skate, or appreciate a fine whisky, joining a club or society is a great way to meet new people and experience new things, as well as continue to develop your skills, hobbies and passions.

Societies

From A Cappella to Zoology and everything in between, we have a wide range of societies for you to get involved with. We have over 180 affiliated societies in various categories – creative arts, culture and faith, political and general interest.

You can join a society by getting in touch with them via the contact details on the full list of societies, linked above. Or, if you can't find the correct email, just send an email to societies@abdn.ac.uk. Societies can be joined at any point throughout the year and do not necessarily require a huge time commitment, so even if you have other commitments, you can still absolutely get involved!

Sports Clubs

With over 55 different sports clubs, AUSA boasts one of the biggest Sports Unions of any Scottish university – we have something for everyone! From Aikido to Weightlifting, we have a range of clubs to get involved with. Each club has its own membership and different progress levels, and there are plenty of clubs that offer the option to take part competitively, or more casually, so there's truly something to suit everyone.
