Household Recycling

You can find household recycling information on the City Council website Bins, Waste and Recycling | Aberdeen City Council. Some properties in Aberdeen have their own General Waste and Recycling bins that need to be taken out to the street and back in on bin day; most flats have large communal bins on the street for General waste, Mixed Plastic, paper, cans and glass recycling and food waste.

You can collect Free compostable Food Waste Recycling bags from the Students’ Union Reception!

If you have larger items or electronics that need recycling, you may need to take them to a recycle point or centre or book a bulky item collection.

Recycling on campus

All buildings and many outside areas have General Waste and Mixed recycling bins. Recycling bins are for solid plastics e.g. bottles (not wrapping), paper and cans. Some buildings where food is served have food waste compost bins that are for organic waste only.

Donating items, you no longer need

If you have items, you no longer need but are still in good usable condition. E.g. clothing, pots & pans, … you can donate these to the SwapShop in the Students Union Building or Polwarth Building at Foresterhill. Swap Shop
