Centre Stage is Aberdeen University's Theatre Company and offers the chance for students to take part in all aspects of drama and production, no matter what their level of experience.
Do you enjoy drama? Does the stage call to you? Are you bored and need a society to join so your mother will get off your back about "getting out of the flat more"? The Centre Stage Theatre Company may be for you!
We offer comprehensive weekly theatrical workshops that build your stagecraft know-how from the ground up, no prior experience required! From onstage tips and tricks to behind-the-scenes training in lighting, makeup, set design, sound, and costume design, we'll give you the training necessary to begin (or continue) your thespian adventure.
We produce 2-3 shows a semester, with an emphasis placed on student-written works. Every step of every path in the production journey is student-led, with student directors, designers, actors, and technicians spearheading the charge for each and every one of our shows. Furthermore, CS offers opportunities for playwright advancement beyond even the lovely granite confines of Aberdeen; one of our student-written works even made it to the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe Festival!
Beyond the shows, Centre Stage boasts an active community that continues events beyond the stage. Our famous Drunk Workshops are perfect for a laidback evening of drinks and casual acts ranging from staged readings to spur-of-the-moment karaoke mishaps, and our annual ball is always a lovely night of revelry, celebration, and the siren call of an eventual dance floor. We also are looking to open safe and expansive collaborative opportunities with some other UoA societies, as we believe that theatre is more than merely what's put on the stage.
