About us:

Aberdeen Debater is the oldest society on campus having been founded in 1848. Because of this our membership is completely free and all students are automatically members.

We aim to promote good faith discussion and debate within the student body and also compete in public speaking competitions across Britain and Europe.

Events:

We run a weekly public debate on Thursday at 7pm in Nk14 with both a table debate and a floor debate open to all.

We also run a public speaking/ competitive debating program. These training sessions are every Tuesday at 6pm.

We attend competitions at other universities around the UK and sometimes even abroad. Last year this included Glasgow Ancients, which included a Ceilidh party, and EUDC (European University Debate Championships) in Copenhagen. All competition attendance within Scotland is completely free for members.
