Her Campus Aberdeen is an online student magazine and an accredited society with the university that hosts a variety of fun events so that there’s something for everyone to enjoy! We publish articles every week about anything and everything that our society members are passionate about as well as hosting a writers meeting every couple of weeks to discuss and encourage article ideas. From the latest Tiktok trend to how to overcome imposter syndrome to ranking your favourite albums, Her Campus Aberdeen covers it all.
But don’t worry if writing isn’t your thing (and we get it- essay writing alone is hard enough), Her Campus also hosts fun nights out, nights in, charity bake sales, and also gets involved with local businesses. A few of our favourite events include themed bar crawls (golf, pink tee’s, Halloween, etc), a Christmas dinner, a PALentines event, pamper evenings, the Her Campus Aberdeen Birthday Party, and of course, we can’t forget the all glam King’s Ball. We have also previously worked with the Trinity Centre as part of charity campaigns and businesses such as The Body Shop and the Beach Bar.
As a society, we really pride ourselves on providing fun, light-hearted, and engaging content while also providing our writers with a voice on any topic they choose. We are a super friendly and supportive group who love meeting new people and trying new things. At HC we really felt that there was a gap in the market for people like us who enjoyed being social and creative but hadn't quite found that society that we fitted into.
In 2020, we won the Big Heart Award, the Best Stall at the Freshers Fayre in 2014, have reached Her Campus HQ's pink level for the past two years despite only being an established chapter for just 4 years, and we also were highly commended in the national awards including honourable mentions for our charity work and selected articles. We really want to continue to build our society, magazine, and chapter as much as possible by creating a safe and positive space where everyone feels welcome.
To join our society you don't have to be a talented or experienced writer - we'd just love for you to bring some good ideas and have a go! We also have members who organise our social events, run our PR and social media, or those who just want to come along with the gang and have a bit of glitter-related fun.
