Shared Planet Society acts as a platform for social and environmental activism and cultural exchange.

Every second Wednesday our volunteers run the Shared Planet Cafe which offers healthy plant-based food at a very low cost. You can find us in the Chaplaincy (25 High St) between 12pm and 3pm- dates of our next Cafes can be found on Shared Planet's Facebook page.

We also manage a Food Co-op called The Corner where you can buy a wide range of low waste products, all of which are fairtrade and/or organic. The Corner is run entirely by volunteers and new faces are always welcome :-) You can find us at Unit 5 at the Student Union Building (SUB, formerly known as The Hub). Have a look at the Corner's page to find out more.

Another project run by the Shared Planet Society is the VegBag Co-operative which provides students access to organic, cheap and mostly local fruit and vegetable from a local farm in Aberdeenshire. The scheme runs on every Tuesday, and you have to place your order before 4pm on Tuesday of the week before. You can book and pay for your VegBag either at The Corner or online here. More details and updates available here.

Next to the Corner, at Unit 4 in the SUB, we also have a clothes exchange project called the Swap Shop. The concept is simple: if you need clothes, kitchenware or any other accesorries you can browse thorugh the shop and take whatever you need. If you have extra stuff at home which you don't need, you can drop it off in the donation box at the Swap Shop as well. No money is involved! Recently we opened another Swap Shop in AUSA's building at Hillhead, too. While the Swap Shop on campus is open always open (within the SUB's opening hous of course), the one in Hillhead will normally be open 5-7pm on Tuesdays (however, the donation box is located outside of the building so you can donate your things at any time). For more details visit the Swap Shop's page.

We are also a part of the FareShare movement, which aims to tackle food waste. Our volunteers collect surplus food from local supermarkets and bring it to the Foodsharing Hub (Unit 3 in the SUB) on Wednesday and Friday mornings and on Thursday afternoons, as well as to AUSA's building in Hillhead on Saturday mornings. If you have any food which you would like to donate, you can bring it to the Foodsharing Hub, too!

Each year we also run a campaign related to the topics of social and environmental activism, with support from the People & Planet, which is the largest student network in the UK campaigning for social and environmental justice.

Apart from all these initiatives, Shared Planet is also involved in other campaigns and events promoting environmental and social justice. Throughout the year we organise potlucks, film screenings, workshops and more! Check Shared Planet's Facebook page for updates.
