Welcome to Aberdeen University Road Cycling Club
We are run by students, for students and our success is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of all those involved in Road Cycling for Aberdeen University.
As a relatively new club first founded in late winter of 2011 by a group of enthusiastic like-minded students seeking the camaraderie of a university road cycle club and a grand vision for delivering the sport to a wider audience within the Aberdeen University, AURCC was born.
The club aims to create a welcoming and friendly environment to all those interested in and dedicated to the sport. Through training and technical sessions the club actively encourages and supports rides to compete locally, nationally and internationally with the aide of Aberdeen University Sports Association (AUSA). The cycle captain organises all training schedules, providing a structured training schedule tailored to riders individual needs and capabilities but all club members actively involve themselves in coaching. Training takes the main focus of weekday and weekend rides around the Aberdeen-shire countryside with mixed groups of ability and fitness. These rides are complemented by regular spin classes and gym session at Aberdeen Sports Village with a focus on strengthening and conditioning during the winter season. Working closely with the cycle captain is the race captain who seeks to organise and implement all race entries which complement the clubs competitive aims for the year. Overseeing the smooth running of the club is the president along with the rest of the committee who seek to provide the best experience to all who are involved with cycling at Aberdeen University.
