The Chess Society at the University of Aberdeen brings together players of all levels who share a love for the game, whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned competitor, you're welcome here.

Most of our members are beginners, so there's no need to worry if you're just starting out or don't know the rules yet. At our meetings, you'll find a beginners' class covering all the essentials, casual games to enjoy at your own pace, and guidance from our more experienced players.

We meet every Tuesday in MR251 and Wednesday in MR315 (MacRobert Building, University of Aberdeen campus) from 7-10pm. Come along to whichever session suits you best!

Beyond our weekly meetings, we compete in the Northeast Scotland Chess League, and we host monthly internal tournaments: low-key, fun, and a great way to test your skills in a relaxed setting.

Chess is a game of tactics, strategy, and creativity. Whether you're here to learn the basics, enjoy some casual games, or dive deeper into serious study, there's a place for you at our table.

To stay up to date and get involved, follow us on Instagram or Facebook, or reach out via email at chess@ausa.org.uk to get the link to our Discord and hear about upcoming events. See you soon!
