We're looking for your ideas on how we can improve student lives. Whether it's a small change that you think will make campus life easier, or a big policy idea that will influence the future of the University, we want to hear from you.

Submit your idea on our ideas module below and let your fellow students decide which are taken forward.

To submit your idea, click ‘new idea’ and fill in the form on the next page.

You can also vote now on ideas that your fellow students have submitted.

If you have any questions, you can email ausareps@abdn.ac.uk.

What happens to my suggestion?

All suggestions that reach 10 votes or more within 4 weeks, will receive a written response from the officers, outlining how we will respond or are already responding to the SU-ggestion, or what factors mean we might not be able to implement the suggestion.

If your idea relates to the establishment of a policy and reaches 30 votes or more within 4 weeks, it will be considered for a debate at our Student Council.

New lecturer strike dates - student ballot & emergency meeting needed

With today's announcement (2 April) for those of us taught by UCU members the academic year just more or less ended. Students *don't* universally support striking staff - at least in my department - AUSA shouldn't assume in its statements we all do. Hold an EGM and cross-campus ballot. If students support - let's see AUSA officers on the UCU picket lines, mobilising students to join them and lobbying UoA for meaningful discussions. If students vote against - AUSA should organise counter-UCU demonstrations. Either way AUSA should be involved in this full time right now, starting by emailing every student with the facts behind the strike from both sides - posters everywhere too. If students vote against we also need lists produced of which courses are dominated by UCU teaching to help us choose between options next year. Just please don't do nothing as usual.

Tell us more about why you want the Students' Union to do it

UoA does need to save a huge amount of money to stay afloat and they also know pre-recorded video and inevitably soon AI-based teaching don't go on strike. This industrial action and the cutbacks themselves are a massive issue involving UoA students' future education - and the chance for AUSA to shine and show its own worth by getting involved.
