All suggestions that reach 10 votes or more, will receive a written response from the officer page, outlining how we will respond or are already responding to the SU-ggestion, or what factors mean we might not be able to implement the suggestion.

If your idea relates to the establishment of a policy and reaches 30 votes or more, it will be considered for a debate at our Student Council.

Transportation to Foresterhill: 9U bus review and Parking situation

    Current

    • Cost of Living
Key Agendas 1. 9U Bus Service * Increase frequency of the 9U service during peak hours (morning and evenings). * Use double-decker buses for busy morning routes. * Improve communication regarding timetable changes, delays, or breakdowns—students are missing important clinical skills sessions due to lack of updates. * Overall, the 9U service is currently unreliable and needs review. 2. Parking Situation * Reconsider the decision preventing Year 1–3 students from using the multi-storey car park. * There are no practical alternative parking options available. * Existing parking spaces are too expensive for students. * With unreliable buses, especially during icy weather or late finishes, students are forced to walk in dark, slippery conditions, creating a safety hazard. * There is also a lack of reliable, accessible parking spaces for disabled students. 3. Other Concerns * Food on campus is becoming increasingly expensive—students are struggling with costs. * Scrubs are also costly and add to the financial burden on medical students. Proposed Changes * Increase morning and evening 9U bus services and ensure double-decker buses are used during peak hours. * Reduce parking costs across campus. * Reverse the decision restricting Year 1–3 access to the multi-storey car park. * Allocate designated, reliable parking spaces for disabled students.

Tell us more about why you want the Students' Union to do it

As outlined above, the primary reason for these proposed changes is the ongoing unreliability of the bus services. The bus company often fails to communicate timetable changes or disruptions, which is directly affecting students’ attendance and academic performance. Additionally, when buses are delayed or unavailable, particularly during icy weather or late finishes; students are left with no option but to walk in dark, slippery conditions, creating a significant safety hazard. If you support these changes, please add your signature. Your voice will help us push these issues forward on your behalf.

5:38pm on 20 Nov 25 I would like to also suggest if possible 1 or 2 additional stops for the 9U to make getting to uni in this weather more accessible

6:52pm on 20 Nov 25 Not enough buses for all students trying to get there.

10:01am on 22 Nov 25 I agree that adding one stop to the route would be helpful. I also think it would be very beneficial to everyone if at least one bus arrived at the hospital for 8am. This would be helpful for placement and for juniors using the shuttle service for GP (Banchory etc).
