Hello everyone! It is finally time for our highly requested fungal identification and foraging course! Come along to learn how to identify, harvest and prepare wild mushrooms, as well as learn about fungal biology and ecology. This event, which is lead by Vasilis Kyparissis, will involve: a trip to Dinnet, where the educational part will take place; introduction to fungal biology, observation of habitats, woody plant and fungal identification, and of course foraging of wild edible species will follow! Here we can have a wee snack break before we get back to Aberdeen (make sure you bring your own if you need to) and a cooking session from 3 pm at the Multi-Faith chaplaincy, using our very own mushrooms as well as some chanterelles and ceps. The itinerary will go as follows: we'll meet at the Secret Garden at 7:15 am and walk together to Union Square Bus Station and take the bus no. 201 to Banchory. We’ll do the foraging and then take a wee lunch break. Then we’ll take the bus back, walk to the Multi Faith Chaplaincy and a cook a lovely meal with the mushrooms foraged. Please note that for health and safety reasons every participant will have to sign a disclaimer form. The cost of the whole course, including the meal at the Secret Garden, is 10£ members 15£ non-members (bus tickets NOT INCLUDED), which will be paid on site. Please make sure to sign up using the link below. Places are limited, so sign up as soon as you can!
