POSITIVE (THE MAN) "THE MOSES OF OUR TIME"

Introduction

my is Collins Chukwuemeka Onyibe, i am running to be your Vice President  for Welfare. I  am a Tier 4 international student with background in Engineering and career in Oil and Gas, currently study MBA Energy Management in the university Business School.

What are your three priorities for the year?

First Priority, I am motivated by the concerns of students who face financial challenges in continuing their education. My major  focus on addressing these concerns and providing  the useful supports to shows my commitment and dedication to ensuring that every student has equal opportunities to succeed. Collaborating with stakeholders to create more part-time or casual job opportunities for students can be a significant step in addressing financial challenges. By establishing partnerships with local businesses, organizations, or even the university community, can help provide students with flexible employment options that fit around their studies. Besides  collaborating with stakeholders,  there other strategies have in mind to support students who face financial obstacle advocating for improved scholarships or grants, organizing financial literacy workshops, or implementing mentorship programs.

Second Priority,  Campaigns for students welfare , like accessibility support,  mental heath support, diversity and inclusion, equal opportunities and community-building initiatives. Will be engaging in various activities that promote students well-being and support, such as studying, socializing, or participating in clubs and organizations.

Third Priority, Advocating  for affordable housing options within and around the university and environs to address the challenges most student are currently facing and work towards ensuring that students have access to safe and comfortable living environments. I will explore the possibility of partnerships with local landlords or implementing rental assistance programs.

What unique skill/knowledge can you bring to the role to stand out from the other candidates? 

I have the passion and mandate to improve the overall welfare of the student body. I have done it before and will do it again. I am talk do  and put people first, your concerns is my concerns.  I am reliable and strategically focussed person that set high targets for myself, had really achieved most difficult target over the years. I see, embrace change/challenges, implement it equally in the right direction to ensure better well bring for all. I am reliable, approachable, dedicated, committed  and a servant leader that believe in excellency in execution and leading by example. i believe in spirit and letter, integrity and open to people. I am confidence if you give me your mandate you all will see positive return on your investment.

What do you think is the biggest issue that students are facing at the moment and how do you plan to tackle it?          

The university have student of diverse population, the Students' Union, University and Stakeholders (local and government), should prioritized on a community approach on wellbeing and student welfare. I am a living example most students will are facing financial challenges as a result of poor economic policies , nearly all the self sponsor students are Nigeria and some other countries are facing these challenges because of drastically fall in their currencies. My core vision is to bring in student voice and representation for Welfare , to lobby University  Authority and National bodies to address these concerns to ensure that every student welfare . Remember it is a collective tasks, with your support (students), we can achieve this goals.
