Green Impact Award

In 2015, AUSA acheived GOLD in the NUS Green Impact environmental accreditation scheme. Green Impact is all about 'greening' our students' association. The gold standard reflects some of the amazing work that has been happening here amongst staff and students. Highlights of our greening work include:

  • Reducing our heat consumption  by 7% in 2013 compared to the previous year.

  • Providing Fairtrade and organic foods to the university community at excellent prices through The Corner, our very own food cooperative

  • Developing a sustainability champion's scheme for staff members and officers

  • Obtaining £137,000 from the Scottish Goverment's Climate Challenge Fund to launch two environmental behaviour change programmes; Carbon School and Power Shift

  • Coordinating a number of green spaces on campus which promote growing and biodiversity including the student wildlife garden and the student organic vegetable garden.
