Pruning and Grafting Fruit Trees

Secret Garden

Sunday 16 February 2020 at 11am - 1pm

Come along to learn the magic of grafting: joining a piece of one fruit tree to the roots of another. This way you can create a clone of the first tree. This is how good varieties of trees are preserved. We’ll also look at how to prune trees to promote fruiting.

The Secret Garden has a well-stocked herb garden, but what are the herbs and how do you use them? This gardening workshop will be answering these questions and giving you the chance to pot up herbs to take home for your kitchen windowsill. This is also AberGreen’s last official gardening event, so come along to say bye to our staff and enjoy a free vegan sandwich lunch together!

The Secret Garden is the University's community garden space. Our weekly gardening session is a great way to learn skills, get a break from the computer and meet other gardeners.

There is always something fun to do in this magical hideaway, even now that the days are a bit shorter and the weather is a tad chilly.

No experience necessary. Tools, training, gloves and refreshments are provided but note that there are no toilets. Dress for the weather and for work with the soil, including sturdy footwear.

Find us across the car park from the Butchart Centre on University Road and read more about the Garden here:
