French cinema has always remained overly patriarchal and, not only have women and gender non-conforming people been erased from its history, it is also significantly harder for them to get their foot in the door nowadays. The goal of this short retrospective is to showcase the work of two French-speaking women filmmaker in order to shed some light on how they use cinema to depict struggles / the experiences they went through and to bring awareness to women’s contributions to French cinema that are sadly too often pushed aside from the mainstream audiences.
