Come along and join the Aberdeen University Concert Band for fun, friendships and a whole lot of music!

The Concert Band is a community band, open to students and staff of the university, as well as anyone around, and outwith, the university. In previous years, we have had two bands, the Concert Band open to any woodwind, brass or percussion player, and the Wind Band, an auditioned band who perform more challenging repertoire. This year, there will be one community ensemble, from 6:00pm-8:00pm in Butchart Recreation Centre.

We always play a wide variety of music, from film scores, to band classics, and anything in between! Most recently, we were conducted by Ashley Edwards, his second year conducting the band after a successful concert in 2017/2018 in the Beach Ballroom.

We are delighted that this year, 2018/19, we are to be conducted by Eric Kidd. Eric was born in 1958 in Aberdeen where he began his musical career on Tuba with the Bon-Accord Silver Band. He has been a prominent musical figure, not just in the North East, but across Scotland. He has been conductor for many ensembles throughout his career, including, both Bon accord bands, UDI (Granite City) brass band, several school/ music centre bands and orchestras and the Aberdeen Concert Band. He also previously conducted AUCB for over ten years. We are thrilled to welcome him back at the helm!
