Roleplaying Association (AURA)

The Aberdeen Univeristy Roleplaying Association (AURA) exists to help you join or run your own game of Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, and many other systems.

When it comes to setting up groups, we allow Game Masters to advertise their games through us, and when possible we provide a space for them to play. This is true both for continuing long-term games, as well as single-session one-shots. We also have a library of various systems that we are happy to lend out to those interested, to help encourage people to play these games without needing to spend all your cash on the books.

In addition to setting up groups of players, in the past we have had large events such as pizza and boardgames, barbecues, bonfires, costume contests, and so forth. We are looking forward to being able to host these events again within physical safety guidelines in the future.

If you want to get more in touch with our community, we have a Facebook page where society announcements are posted. You can also post about your upcoming games if you need more players or you can post that you want to get into a game if you haven't found one yet. We have prepared a Discord group for our society as well (Join here: https://discord.gg/hAfFG3nyTJ), which will allow for more cohesive and direct communication between members.

If you are interested in running your own campaign of games through AURA, please email us or fill out this form and we'll help you get some new players. Hopefully soon we will be able to allow for organising face-to-face gaming sessions, until then we can only help set up online games.

If you want to join a game through AURA, we will be setting up a sign-up sheet for advertized games soon. At the moment, AURA cannot supply in-door places to run games, but we expect Roombookings to allow us to do this within safety guidelines some time soon. This means that for now, all games run through AURA will have to be online. We'll make sure everyone is aware once this changes, and knows what they have to do in order run their games in-person.

Finally, part of our goal is to provide a safe-space both for Game Masters and players, so if you are having difficulties with someone in your group and you want someone to help mediate the issue, then email us and we'll see what we can do.

We will be participating in Freshers' 2021!

You'll be able to meet some of us in person at the first day of the Freshers' Fayre on Tuesday 21st September. Make sure to book your tickets here ahead of time to check all the uni societies and groups out! For those who cannot make it to the Freshers' Fayre, or who just want to chat with us again, we will be holding an Online Meetup and Q&A on Sunday 26th from 2PM to 4PM on our Discord server.

Additionally, we will be hosting a Give-It-A-Go event on Saturday 2nd October from 2PM to 6PM. We need Game Masters to help us run this event, so if you want to volunteer to run a Freshers' One-Shot for new players, please sign up here. For those who are interested in trying out roleplaying games at our Give-It-A-Go event, there will be a player sign-up sheet made available at the end of September.

In addition to all that, we will be having our General Meeting on Sunday 3rd October at 2PM. During this meeting, we'll introduce ourselves, hold elections for empty committee positions (you can sign up to run for a position here), talk about our plans for the year, and advertise games to help game masters and players form groups together (if you want to run a game, sign up here). If you want to join a game as aplayer, we intend to have a player sign-up sheet made available at the end of September
Note: If you checked this page out before, you may have seen different dates for our Freshers' events. This is because we have decided to postpone them by a week to increase the chance of running them face-to-face - the current dates and times above are the current plans.

We look forward to you joining our community, whether it be online or in-person. Please feel free to email us at roleplaying@ausa.org,uk if you have any questions or concerns.

AURA is now selling society hoodies and gilets. The items all have our AURA logo on the left breast and large on the back in white embroidering. The hoodies are made of heavy blend cotton and the gilets are made of fleece. We will soon be making these available for purchase once again.
