August - NUS Lead and Change Conference

For the first week of August all of the Sabbatical Officers went to Nottingham University for the NUS Lead and Change Conference. This was a three day event that was attended by officers from across the UK.

Some of the workshops I attended were around Communication, Liberation, Governance and Planning the picture above are the delegates from Scotland. Had meetings with Mo who wanted to restart the Mature Student Society. Attended the Undergraduate Engagement and Communications Group on two occasions. More manifesto planning. Then attended The Gathering with Lewis the communities officer and Lawson the Student President. The Gathering is only for officers from Scotland, it is a networking event for officers to share plans on what they want to do throughout the year, there were also workshops that I attended throughout the day. Two students from the University of Aberdeen also attended the event with us.

Throughout the rest of the month attended numerous committee/board meetings from VLE Project meeting, to Positive Outcome Taskforce. Met with Peter McGeorge also. Kendall and I also took part in a FE/HE Awareness event that also had representatives from RGU and Nescol. I ended the week by helping out at a local group with Additional Support Needs at a fundraising BBQ.
