September - Freshers' Week

2nd September was officially the start of Fresher’s were hundreds of students moved into halls at Hillhead. Ausa were up at Hillhead distributing Welcome Packs and welcoming new students. Student volunteers and I went to an event on campus primarily targeted for the parents of new students. It was then back up to Hillhead to welcome students.

Throughout fresher’s week I took part in the Principals Welcome along with my fellow sabbatical officers and the Rector. This was followed by a Welcome BBQ, shame that the weather was not good to us, as cooking hundreds of burgers in the rain was not ideal. Then there was the Sports Fayre, Societies Fayre in which for some reason I ended up being crowd control within the marque. There was various student inductions throughout the week, the Food and Drink Fayre was very well attended also. On the Friday I hosted and information event for Mature Students and this was followed by a networking event for those students also. On the last day of Fresher’s took part in Sunday Recharge which was a nice way to wind down before classes started.

There was an extraordinary meeting of senate which was to discuss how the new principal will be sought. Met with Peter McGeorge also took part in my Education Committee School Convenor training.

The Education Committee also met with Peter McGeorge which will continue on a monthly basis throughout the academic year.

Finally attended Student Council and gave my first work report.
