Quick questions

If I had to describe myself in 3 words I would use:

Empathetic, committed and (sometimes) adventurous.

Best piece of advice I’ve ever received is:

Don't waste your time on something you don't like doing. Find what makes you happy and go from there.

If I had one superpower, it would be:

Being able to fill up anything (my bank account or my fridge!)

Favourite thing to do in my spare time is:

I like to garden and plant things, but also exploring new places in cities or nature.

This year I want to achieve:

Sustainability! Not just in words, but actions.

Weekly Update (WEEK 7 11th August- 18th August)

This week, I have focussed on two key manifesto priorities.
First, Foodsharing. I have been in contact with Shared Planet Society to make sure the new Foodsharing Hub will have enough volunteers and had the pleasure of writing a very exciting risk assessment to ensure the good running of the initiative.
Second, making sure Student Council is more accessible and easy to understand. I had a meeting to discuss the current handbook for student council members and how to let students know what will be discussed beforehand and which motions have been passed. If you want to have a look at our current policies, they are on the AUSA Website(https://www.ausa.org.uk/representation/activepolicy/).

I have attended my first digital meeting with the AURORA Student Network which we are part of. AURORA is a network of several European universities sharing best practices and aiming to challenge our current societal issues with our education system. Exciting things are in the work such as sending a Climate Emergency Declaration to our universities. In the next couple of weeks, their social media presence will be more active but you can still contact them and see what happened the previous years on here: https://www.facebook.com/aurorastudentcouncil/.
Myself and Cecilia Wallback will be your student representative for the AURORA Network. Any questions/suggestions are very much welcome.

I have attended various meetings concerning GDPR and how to make sure we comply with the new regulations, complaints and investigation induction, Qatar campus and how to engage with students there, Black History Month and finalising events for October, Sustainable Workstream within the University Strategic Plan for 2020-2040 (https://www.abdn.ac.uk/aberd…/key-themes/sustainable-106.php).
If you want to hear more about certain meetings or have further questions, I'm always open to discuss and chat with you about it.

Email me on : ausacommunities@abdn.ac.uk, message me on Facebook at /AUSACommunities20192020 or comment on my (updated) blogs (https://www.ausa.org.uk/blogs/environment/).

I have posted my weekly updates on here for students who might not have an easy access to Facebook.

Hope everyone is enjoying their week-end!
