Today, I attended a University Managemtn Group (UMG) meeting, which involved both Senior Management Team (SMT) members and heads of schools. I had the opportunuty to present the Student Partnership Agreement (SPA) and answer questions from the faculty, and then there were table discussions about it. This was very exciting as it means that working on achieving the actions set out in the SPA will be more achieveable if we have the buy-ins from different areas of the University.
The SPA is an agreement between AUSA and the University, and it sets out a plan for us to work in partnership to foster trust and a great student experience for the students here at the University of Aberdeen. The 5 key priorities we have settled on this year is: Communication & Engagement; Sustainability; Accessibility, Inclusion, & Wellbeing; Student Living: and Careers & Employability. It is close to being finished, we are having another meeting about it next week to hopefully finalise it, and once this has happened, it will be shared with everyone!
The meeting also included updates on where the University sits on various leage tables, rankings, and dicussions on how to use the feedback to improve the University and the experience for students at this Univeristy (and their graduate prosects), and a discussion on the Outcome Agreemet between the University and the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) for 2020/2021.
I also had a chance to catch up with Karl Leydecker, the Senior Vice Prinicipal, about me bringing students to my meetings and so if anyone is interested in doing this, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on firstname.lastname@example.org. I have already been in touch with a few students and we are currenlt figuring out what meetings they may be able to contribute best, and where they can get the most out of it in terms of experience! Just to clarify though, joining my 'group' of student representatives does not grant you a voting position on Student Council, nor are we able to grant recognition on your Enhanced Transcript presently. I do hope, however, that this will not deter you from attending meetings with University staff, SMT, directors of professional services, and represent the student voice and experience!
Until the next one xx
