We are offering you free food, wine and a chance to make a laptop bag, purse or phone pouch from old pairs of jeans! All of this is in support of Fairtrade fortnight. There will be a complimentary glass of Fairtrade wine for each person and a great selection of snacks. We have some sewing machines and will show you how to 'upcycle' purses and bags from old items of clothing. During the event there will be a talk about Fairtrade by visitors from Thailand who work in the Fairtrade industry. You will be able to find out why Fairtrade is important in terms of guaranteeing a fair deal for workers and for local sustainability.
There will also be a representative from the Aberdeen Fairtrade steering group who can answer your questions about what it means for Aberdeen to be a Fairtrade city. This event is open to everyone, you don't need to know how to sew or what Fairtrade is. If you don't like sewing just come and hang out on our comfy beanbags!
Bring along old pairs of jeans if you have them (we have a stash here you can use as well). All materials will be provided by us.
