Freshers' Week FAQ

We are very excited to welcome you back in September with Freshers’?Week 2020!

Hopefully the information below will answer some of the questions you may have about the week, however if not, please email ausaevents@abdn.ac.uk and we will endeavour to add them to the website!

What can we expect from Freshers’ Week 2020?

This year we are taking Freshers’ Week online!!! Wherever you are, students will be able to learn about AUSA through a range of live Q&A sessions, engage with peers through Freshers Fayre’ and join in on fun online activities like AUSA’s Big Freshers’ Quiz. There will also be whole host of student run events which will give you the opportunity to meet societies and try “Give it a Go” sports sessions.

Why are there no on campus/physical events?

Staff and Sabbatical Officers at the Aberdeen University Students’ Association have been working hard with the University to monitor the changes in the Scottish Government’s guidance on gatherings. With strict limits set by the Scottish Government on numbers at social gatherings, it was agreed in August Freshers’ week would take place entirely online.  The health and safety of our students, staff and the wider community is paramount, and by doing this we can ensure students are safe and they can take part wherever they are. WIN WIN!

A University spokesperson said: “We understand this may cause some disappointment, but The University and AUSA are committed to providing as full an experience as possible and AUSA has prepared a packed schedule of activities that will enable students to safely link up with various clubs and societies, while connecting with other students at a wide range of different events.
