It is with regret that I announce today that I will be standing down from my position as Student President at Aberdeen University Students’ Association. I have taken this decision for personal reasons and while it is a decision which has not been easy to take I am certain is the right decision for everyone involved.
I am proud of the work the organisation has undertaken over the last year and I am confident that AUSA is in a better position now than when I was elected. The firm foundations are in place for the organisation to be more responsive to student needs and better at representing the voice of students at the university. AUSA has been on a challenging journey in recent times but I’m convinced that the association has emerged stronger and I look forward to hearing of AUSA’s many success stories in the years to come.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone at AUSA the very best for the future including my successor, Lawson, who I will ensure receives everything required to hit the ground running when he takes up the position in July.
I am, and always will be, eternally grateful for the opportunities and experiences received through the position; the cohort of staff that I have been fortunate enough to work with; and most importantly the rousing support of the student body who elected me in the first place.
