Here at the University of Aberdeen History Society we have several events planned for the upcoming year!
Lecture Series: Scottish Political Culture?
Thu. 12th October, 5pm
Come and learn about Scottish Political Culture with Dr Claire Hawes, with our first lecture series of the year!
'Politics and the Public Domain in Fifteenth-Century Scotland'
The 'crown-magnate debate' has formed the bedrock of the political historiography of fifteenth-century Scotland for almost forty years, with scholars arguing over whether the relationship between the King of Scots and his leading subjects was essentially cooperative or competitive. This lecture will examine the problems inherent in such an approach, and argue for an alternative model which takes account of contemporary political ideas and legal structures, as well as personal relationships.
Thu. 12th October, 7:30pm
If you've survived September, come along to our first Pub Quiz of the year at Bridge Street Social Club!
This will be a general quiz, with some historical elements and of course a picture round! We know you aren't all historians, so don't worry : )
The winning team will of course get a prize. But if you don't come first, we will also be holding a raffle on the night, with some tasty prizes at £1 a strip. Each team will get a free gift bag!
Non-Members: £3 pp
